...with Table Mountain just outside of our windows, this psalm has been making its home in our hearts this past week.
Psalm 121- The New International Version (NIV) A song of
ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the mountains - where does my help
come from? My help comes from the Lord, the
Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you
will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you—the Lord is
your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by
night. The Lord will
keep you from all harm— he
will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over
your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Table Mountain |
I will lift up my eyes to
the hills [around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zion and Mount Moriah]—From whence
shall my help come? My help comes from the
Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot
to slip or to be moved; He Who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand [the side not carrying a shield]. The sun shall not smite you
by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from
all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your
going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Psalm 121 The Message (MSG) A Pilgrim Song
I look up to the mountains; does my
strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains. He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t
fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or
sleep. God’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you—Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from
moonstroke. God guards you from every evil, he guards your very
life. He guards you when
you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he
guards you always
Surely there will be more to come.
